Product Description

Production Process of Polyester Yarn

The production process of polyester yarn mainly includes four stages: Raw Material Preparation → Spinning → Yarn Formation → Post-treatment.

1. Raw Material Polymerization

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) melt is produced by esterification and polycondensation reactions of terephthalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glycol (EG).

2. Spinning & Forming

The melt is extruded through spinnerets, then cooled and solidified into polyester filaments or staple fibers (staple fibers are cut to cotton-type or wool-type lengths).

3. Yarn Formation Process

• For Staple Fibers: The fibers are processed into single yarn through carding, drawing, roving, spinning, and other procedures, which align and twist the fibers.
• For Filaments: The filaments are directly drawn and twisted, or transformed into low-stretch yarn (LSY) or high-stretch yarn (HSY) via texturing processes.

4. Post-treatment

This stage includes heat setting (to improve dimensional stability), dyeing (to impart color as required), and winding (to form finished yarn packages).
